The GOTAhams Amateur Radio Club Wishing All Our Members A Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year!

Note from Kathi KD6CAF: Hi Everyone, Even though we aren’t able to meet in person, you are invited to the Gotahams Holiday Zoom Celebration. Keeping with the Holiday Spirit we ask all participants to decorate their background, dress in your Ugliest (or not Ugly) Christmas Sweater and Christmas attire. We will award prizes to winners of virtual games, best background, decorations, most interesting attire…and whatever else comes to mind. Gotahams 2021 dues are not a prerequisite to attend our Holiday Celebration. Please contact me with any questions or comments. kd6caf@gmail.com
All members are welcome to join us for our board meeting via Zoom video conference. Please make sure your email is registered with our Secretary Kathi, kd6caf@gmail .com.
We hope to see you online!!!
Due to a resent uptick of Covid-19 cases here in the South Land, many counties are shutting down with new restrictions starting November 20th. As a result we need to cancel our planed Radio In The Park event until further notice.
However, we can still have a little fun at home. Let’s try some Simplex and monitor these frequencies below.
New Date! Our Planned (Weather Permitting) “Radio in the Park” event for November is Saturday Nov. 21 10:00AM in Larkin Park Claremont at Mountain Ave. and Bonita across the street (Mountain) from El Roble Intermediate School. 660 N Mountain Ave, Claremont, CA 91711.
Our Plans for Special operations this month will focus on simplex operation to and from Mt. San Antonio Gardens to facilitate radio activities with their Amateur Radio and Cert group within the facility. They are in a “lockdown” due to Covid-19 keeping them from physically joining our field operations. This Park is less than 1/2 mile from Mt San Antonio Gardens allowing very reliable communications with our group. As always we will be monitoring 446.400 -5mhz PL 103.5 (WA6FZH Repeater)
We will be meeting in the North East corner of the Park, Some directions to this Park include; from Foothill Blvd. travel south on Mountain Ave (Claremont, Between Towne Ave and Indian Hill Blvd) to Seventh Street east (Left) to the end of the Cul-de-sac, park on the street. From Arrow Highway (or Bonita) go North on Cambridge, cross Harrison into a driveway marked by a sign “Community Building” follow it all the way to the end and park. This is a nice quiet tree covered section of the park.
As always, Please Wear a mask and observe “Physical Distancing” whenever possible. Many of our members and visitors are in one or more of the “At Risk” groups, including Myself! Remember Your mask is for Their/Our protection!
